A walk on a day off to Tai To Yan…

Tuesday, November 8th, 2005

Got a weekday off (got to work this Sunday though =’< ) and I wouldn’t waste the good sun and so, I packed up and went to walk Tai To Yan (大刀屻), which is a 10km walk Dsc01060from Fanling rail station to Kadoorie Farm going on top of all hills in between… getting to the 2 main peaks - North Tai To Yan and Tai Yo Yan itself is relatively easy (although a bit of shortness of breath getting on the 972 steps to the first one)Dsc01066Dsc01065, Dsc01069the hard bit is what lie after it - the "Gold and silver bridges" (金銀二橋), which is a narrow ridge to get through, and named for it’s hardness to walk through, that one needs to weight in gold and silver - his own life to get through. Now it is placed with chains so getting through is of no problemDsc01077, it feels similar to getting pass the lion’s back of the Lion Rock…Dsc01086 Dsc01088 But to my view the hardest part still are the trails besides those above, that they are all steep and keep one going up and down with lots of effort… (”’^.^ <— lots of sweat) I walked the trail alone and there was NOONE walking on the trail at all…

No matter it was rated as a 4-star walking trail and now even removed from recommended trails on the AFCD homepage, and the country park it lies in is only a small section… It has always been rated as one of the hardest trail in the territory and is perfect for people been walking through Dragon’s back too much, and already bored on walking Pat Sin Leng and Phenoix Peak… (haha of course if u already walked Trailwalker with ease then nothing can challenge u la ^.^)
